Yamaha is treading into new territory for the upcoming 2015 Tokyo auto show planning to introduce a small sports car. The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer hasn’t yet said much about this interesting development, other than confirming that it’s a “car design concept.”
The small, two-seater sports car is said to be inspired by motorcycles and instilled with “the unique style of Yamaha”. Its low front hood transitions into rounded front and rear fenders, and the low-slung cockpit is capped by a curved greenhouse.
A new car concept from Yamaha isn’t completely unprecedented, as the company showed a city car concept called the Motiv.e at the 2013 Tokyo auto show. The company has previously announced plans to enter in the automotive sphere, with a possible use of motorcycle powerplants and/or electrification for these small, lightweight vehicles.
